How I got here

I started running in February 2009. I ran my first half marathon in May 2009 in Ottawa, Canada (thanks to Donna, Candace and Justine who helped motivate me). To date, I have officially run 3 half marathons and put many miles on my shoes. My husband, Richard, has run many half marathons and 2 full marathons and is currently training for his third. He motivates and supports me in my quest to finish my first marathon.

I am training with many friends who I met during the ING training session last year with the Footworks group in South Miami. Sharon, Aileen, Carla and Felix will be the crew that share these experiences with me. Of course, there is Marin (my wonderful, happy and easy going daughter) who lets me wake her early, and I mean early, on Saturday mornings to push her 5, 7 10+ miles before she is even really awake. I love you Marin!

Come with me on this journey.

12 mile run

So today's run was FANTASTIC!! The weather was 66 when I left the house. What a difference 2 weeks make! Marin and I set out to park at Deli Lane so we could drive home after breakfast. From the hospital we set out to run 12 miles. None of the miles seemed hard today. I didn't wonder at any point in time when it was going to end. I felt really good the entire way. I don't think I have said that before. I really think the weather is helping.

The new Pearl Izumi got their debut today. I love these shoes!! 12 miles and they were great the entire time. Avg heart rate was 158 bpm. That's a little lower than usual so that's a great sign. I knew that training all summer would be good for me and now I am super happy that I plugged away for so long.

I am starving all the time now. I continue to gain a little weight but I know it's because I haven't eaten some chocolate and some brownies. I need to work on staying fuller longer with better foods. My habit of filling the void with 'crap' must stop!
